Scrolling through Mo Milly’s Instagram feed is like flipping through the crates of your dream record store – one packed with soul deep cuts, and real love for the groove. Known online as @behindthegroove24, Monique brings her whole heart to every post. We caught up to talk about her vinyl roots, the album she’ll never part with, and why the online wax community feels more like family.
How did you get into record collecting?
As a kid, my uncle inspired me to collect. He had everything; I would just drift away and it made me wanna have a collection of my own.
What is it about vinyl that you love most?
The sound and just reading the linear notes and credits!
How long have you been sharing your collection on Instagram?
It’s been a year for me this past April.

What’s your favourite thing about the vinyl community there?
I feel that I’m understood musically without being looked at as weird lol. I’ve been embraced by so many dope people to the point they’re family!
What’s the most prized record in your collection?
My Renée Geyer – Ready to Deal album.

What’s your go-to crate digging spot?
Fresh Produce Records in Macon and also eBay so far.
